Everette William McNeill, Sr.

Mr. Everette William (Bill) McNeill, Sr, died Sunday, March 27, 2011 in his home at the age of 87. Mr. McNeill was born in Hoke County on November 7, 1923 to the late Everette Winfield McNeill and Annie Elizabeth McBryde McNeill. He was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. Mr. McNeill served in the US Navy during WWII and retired as an Entemologist with the US Dept. of Agriculture after 30 years. He was a life long farmer in Hoke County. Survivors include his wife, Betty Hicks McNeill of the home; a son, Everette William (Billy) McNeill, II and wife Debra of Antioch, NC; a daughter, Cynthia M. Romano and husband James, of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Percy McNeill and wife Jo of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Pauline Bruner of Laurinburg, NC and Bertha Webster of Red Springs, NC; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Hodgin and husband Chad, Rebecca McNeill, Kimberly McNeill, and Joseph William Romano; and 2 great grandchildren, Will Hodgin, and Mary Katherine Hodgin and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC and at other times at the home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Antioch Presbyterian Church with Reverend Matthew Trask and Reverend Michael McGehee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
