

Mrs. Jane Brown Thrower of Red Springs died Thursday, December 13, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 83. Mrs. Thrower was born in Morganton, NC, on June 8, 1929 to the late Rockwell V. Brown and Pansy Lane Brown. She was an honor graduate of both Morganton High School and Flora MacDonald College. She was a teacher at Vardell Hall, and she also served as librarian of the McMillan Memorial Library for over 35 years. She was a member of Philadelphus Presbyterian Church and also attended Red Springs Presbyterian Church where she was a member and leader of the Ladies Circle. Mrs. Thrower was awarded an honorary life membership by the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church USA in 2008. She was also a member of the Red Springs Dilettante Club and Red Springs Garden Club. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Harold Thrower, Sr.; her daughters, Elizabeth T. Kane of Baltimore, MD; Marie Thrower and her husband Charles Rowe of Charleston, SC; her son, Harold "Hal" Thrower, Jr. and his wife Janet of Raeford; grandson, Graham Rowe of Chandler, AZ; step-grandson, Miles Rowe of Durham, NC. Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 E. 4th Ave, Red Springs, NC. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 in the Red Springs Presbyterian Church with Reverend Michael McGehee officiating. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Red Springs Presbyterian Church, 115 N. Vance Street, Red Springs, NC 28377 and/or McMillan Memorial Library, 205 E. 2nd Ave, Red Springs, NC 28377.
