John Alexander Richards, 59, of Aberdeen, died Thursday June 4, 2010, after a long illness at his home. John was born September 10, 1959 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Theodore and Robbie Richards. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore. John was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed golfing and baseball. He was dedicated to his chosen profession; horticulture. John is survived by his wife, Joy Lucas Richards; a son, Bryan Richards of California; a step-daughter, Charissa Miller Johnson of Raeford; a step-son, Eric Joseph William Miller of Raeford; mother Robbie Surprise of Cary, NC; brothers Ben of Apex, NC; Matt of San Diego, California; Ted of Los Gatos, California; sisters Shirley Richards of Carboro, NC, and Marion Thompson of Huntersville, NC; three nieces; one nephew; and four great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, John would've appreciated donations towards his son Bryan reach his goals of making the PGA Tour.
