Dateline: Raeford Mr. John Daniel "J.D." Wilkes, Jr. of Raeford died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in Autumn Care of Raeford at the age of 89. Mr. Wilkes was born in Hoke County on October 4, 1925 to the late John Daniel Wilkes, Sr. and Mamie Currie Wilkes. He was preceded in death by his wives, Hester Stewart Wilkes and Leola Pate Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is survived by his son, Wayne Wilkes (Alice) of Fayetteville; his daughters, Wanda Lupo of Raeford, Kay Taylor (Ronnie) of Raeford, Mary "Nan" Baxley of Raeford, Agnes Creech (Dwight) of Las Vegas, NV; his brother, Ervin Wilkes of Clyde; his sister, Peggy Inman (Dewey) of Raeford; sister-in-law, Shirley Wilkes of Wagram 6 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford. Graveside service will be 3p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Highland Biblical Gardens with the Reverend Randall Snead. Memorials may be made to: Church of God of Prophecy, 911 W.
