Linda Mercer Watson

Mrs. Linda Mercer Watson of Raeford passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the age of 78. Linda was born April 22, 1938 in Robeson County to the late Edwin A. Mercer and Julia Hilburn Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband James Watson and her sister Ann Mercer Barnett. Linda was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was employed with the Hoke County News Journal before she retired. She is survived by her sons, Joel Blanton (Kim Wheeless) of Garner, and Barry Blanton (Janie) of TX, daughters, Judith B. Quarles (Michael) of Monroe, Betsy Quinn (Shawn) of TN, and Shannon Phelps (Jeff) of Raeford, sons, James Watson, Jr. (Melody) of CA, and Jeffrey Tommy Watson of MO, daughter, Stephanie W. Henderson of Raeford, 18 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren A visitation will be held 2-3 pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church 2699 Hwy 401 Bus, Raeford, NC 28376. A funeral service will be held 3pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2699 Hwy 401 Bus, Raeford, NC 28376.
