

Mr. Oliver "Booger" Powers, Jr. of 2007 Yarborough Road died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Southeastern Regional Medical Center at the age of 62. Mr. Powers was born in Robeson County on February 12, 1950. His father, Oliver Junius Powers, Sr; his brother, James Henry Powers, his sister, Betty Jean Godwin preceded him in death. Mr. Powers retired from Lumbee River Electric and attended Calvary Cornerstone Church in St. Pauls. Booger lit up the room with his amazing charm and charisma. Those who knew him will remember his blue eyes, friendly smile, and his amazing ability to make those around him find humor in life. Survivors include his wife, Faye Powers of the home, daughters, Melissa "Missy" Powers of Wilmington, Tina Powers of Southport, Lauren Powers of Hope Mills; step-daughter, Robin Hunt of Raeford; step-son, Anthony Caldwell of St. Pauls; his mother, Vera Powers of St. Pauls; a brother, Charles Powers and his wife, Julia of Angier; sisters, Brenda Taylor and her husband Frank of St. Pauls, Faye Harrell and her husband, Bob of St. Pauls; a brother in law, Gene Godwin of Rocky Mount; honorary sister, Cathy Carter and her husband, Donald of Parkton; 7 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 E. 4th Ave, Red Springs, NC. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Calvary Cornerstone Church, 337 S. Elizabeth Street, St. Pauls, NC, with Pastor David Hodge and Pastor Don Goforth officiating. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs. Memorials may be made to the Gibson Cancer Center, 1200 Pine Run Road, Lumberton, NC 28358.
