Retired Major David Sgt Horne

DATELINE: Raeford Retired Sergeant Major David Horne of 160 W. Lake Road, Raeford, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, at the age of 74. Mr. Horne was born in Robeson County, on May 6, 1937 to the late Robert and Dora Herring Horne. He retired from the US Army in 1974 as Sergeant Major. After retiring from the Army he started a career in selling manufactured homes until he fully retired in the early 1990's. Survivors are his wife of fifty-five years, Eva T. Horne of Raeford, three sons, Steve Horne and wife Jean of Raeford, Tony Horne and wife Terri of Raeford, and David Horne, Jr., and wife Pam of Raeford; one daughter, Cindy H. Wellington and husband Jamie of Lumberton; two brothers, Kirk Horne and wife Kitty of Shallotte, and Brice Horne & wife Sandra of Tampa, FL.; one sister, Doris Walters and husband Alton of Shallotte; thirteen grandchildren, Tiffany, Amanda, Rikki, Heather, Austin, Joshua, Steven, Jessica, Daniel, Cassidy, Christopher, Samantha, and Calab; eleven great grandchildren, Jamie, Joseph, Shannon, Charlie, Caley, Cameron, Abigale, Hannah, Melissa, Riley, and Bristol. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376 Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Raeford cemetery with full military honors.
