Roberta Twine McClain

September 11,1944 - October 5, 2025

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, our beloved sister, Roberta transitioned from her earthly home in Red Springs, NC to her new home with the Lord. Roberta was the youngest daughter born to the late Luther Martin Twine, Sr. and Roberta Marion James Twine in Norfolk County (Chesapeake) Va.

Reared in a Christian home with her parents and siblings, she was baptized and joined the New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Chesapeake, VA at an early age. Roberta was an Usher, sung in the choir, worked with the youth, and participated in various church ministries.

Roberta was educated in Norfolk County Schools. She graduated from Crestwood High School. Pursuing a career in business, she received a certificate from Norfolk County Trade School in Business Administration. She worked in the Washington DC Public School system and as a civil servant in the Department of the Army.

She met and married the late Willie “Bill” McClain and they had one son together Sidney Cortez McClain who deceased in 2017.

Roberta was a very soft-spoken quiet spirit. Her nickname was “Lil' Sis.” She loved shopping for herself and family members.

She leaves to cherish her memories several grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; 3 brothers Leroy Twine (Linda); Hercules Twine (Sarah deceased); and Sylester Twine (Shirley).Deceased Brother Luther James Twine, Jr. (Willie) deceased; Deceased Sister Myrtle Portlock (Alexander) deceased; Deceased Sister Vernell Spellman (Whitfield) deceased; Sister Mary Jane McCullough (deceased).

Roberta will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Raeford City Cemetery.
