

Shirley was born in Hoke County, North Carolina on July 30, 1938, to the late William and Maude Fulk Calloway.
Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alvin Leigh Potts of Raeford; brothers, Warren Calloway of Oak Island, NC, Ralph Calloway of Raeford, NC, Leonard Calloway of Raeford, NC, sister, Ruth Calloway Wilkerson of Aberdeen, NC, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Barnes Potts of Raleigh, NC.
Shirley graduated from Hoke High School in 1957. She attended Louisburg College. She retired from Hoke County Schools in 2002 after 25 years of service. Shirley was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church and Raeford Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of WoodmenLife and served as the chapter secretary.
Shirley is survived by her son Alvin “Leigh” Potts II of Raleigh, NC, daughter Lisa Potts Davis (Kevin) of Raeford, NC, grandchildren, William Elias Davis of Raeford, NC, Ian Leigh Potts (Hollie) of Leland, NC, and Miranda Potts Noland (Kris) of Garner, NC, four great-grandchildren, Weston, Griffin, Hallie, and Beau, twin brother, Shelby Calloway of Raeford, NC, sister-in-law, Cammie Calloway of Raeford, NC, nieces, and nephews.
The Potts family would like to give special thank you and deepest gratitude to son-in-law, Kevin Davis, for his daily dedication and support during Shirley’s illness. The family also appreciates caregivers, Jackie Davis, Kim Hollingsworth, FirstHealth Hospice, and William Davis for their excellent care and support.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026,11:00 am, at Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 6197 Aberdeen Road, Raeford, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Autumn Care of Raeford, 1206 North Fulton Street, Raeford, NC, or Pine Hill Fire Department, 6390 Calloway Road, Aberdeen, NC 28315.
