Willie Carl Odom

September 9, 1931 – January 1, 2026

Willie Carl Odom, 94, went home to his heavenly Father on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Willie Carl was born in Robeson County on September 9, 1931 to William and Annie Hamilton Odom. He lived his formative years in Robeson County, North Carolina.

He served for several years in the United States National Guard, worked for Burlington Industries for 28 years and built cabinets for several years after leaving Burlington. He was working part time doing maintenance at The Meadows and Holly Park Apartments at the time of his death.

Willie Carl spent his life dedicated to his Lord and Savior spending many years ministering to residents at Open Arms Rest Home, and at First Baptist Church of Raeford for 65 years in multiple positions and receiving the honor of Lifetime Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Edna Canady Odom and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Watts Odom; one daughter, Betty Odom of St. Pauls, NC; sons David (Dora) of Middleburg, FL, John (Kelly) of Morehead City, NC, James of Willow Spring, NC, and Randy Watts (Cathy) of Greenville, NC; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Nora Smith, Ruby Johnson, Mary Register, Flora Fisher and Frances Blackmon (James), as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church, 333 North Main Street, Raeford, NC 28376.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025 between 1:00 - 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Raeford, 333 N Main St, Raeford, NC 28376. A Funeral Service will immediately follow with Pastor Marvin Seals officiating.
