Aaron Isaac Leon, age 49, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2024. Born in Mountain View, California, he was son to Allan and Donna Olsen Leon, and older brother to Eric Allan Leon. Aaron graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY, then earned a BS in Chemistry from University of North Carolina. An ultimate Tarheel, Aaron loved attending games and followed countless players and statistics across the athletic programs.
Aaron and Julie Anne Ransford met at one of the notorious Mallard Ct. cookouts in Chapel Hill while both were working in the service industry. Outside of his stunning good looks and over-the-top love for life, Aaron was the nicest guy she’d ever met, and she wasn’t about to let that go. They were happily married almost 18 years and have two wonderful children, Hunter (15) and Cooper (14), and two attention-seeking dogs, Scout (9) and Finn (7).
Aaron was very generous and loved making sure those around him were happy. He mastered cooking every kind of pizza, meat, and side dish he could find, and created his own legendary culinary delights. There were many nights where he and his brother-in-laws’ would play guess that 80’s song and other nights of classic movies and family poker. The man knew how to have fun and make sure everyone else did too.
Aaron loved traveling and the outdoors, and asked his nephews to take the boys camping because he knew how awesome it was to be with older cousins. He treasured family and always found ways to get together. He was a tech guru and loved to dazzle and surprise us with his movies and creative art. Wow, he had an eye for design down to every last detail! He is singularly responsible for our families love of Bald Head Island and specialized sleeping masks. He also had a thing for The Jonas Brothers, but we let that slide. He was a master-of-all-trades, dog whisperer, a thoughtful provider, and knew how to bring people together. In his professional role as CEO at Commio, he felt very responsible for the welfare of his coworkers and employees.
Aaron faced challenges with anxiety in his 20s and worked hard to manage it over the years. Despite his efforts, the struggle and side effects became too great, leading to his untimely passing. Aaron was a private man, always striving to handle things on his own. We share this in hopes it might help others who may be facing similar battles.
Aaron is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Olsen Leon, his mother-in-law, Sally Ransford, and father-in-law, Paul Ransford Jr.
