Aat David Zevenhuizen, age 56, died Thursday, March 24th, from natural causes. He was the son of the late Aat Zevenhuizen. He is survived by his mother, Cathryn Cheek Zevenhuizen; brother, Charles and wife Robin; sister, Katie Medlin and husband Danny; sister, Eva Stancil and husband Dan; nieces, Anna and Caroline Zevenhuizen, Cathryn Medlin Paradise, Libby and Ann Daniel Stancil; and nephew, Grimes Medlin III.
Aat was born in Raleigh in 1966, graduated from Broughton High School in 1984 and was a lifelong Raleigh resident. After a brief career in surveying, Aat gravitated towards a life in food service. He was most recently employed by the Raleigh Beer Garden and Hibernian restaurants, where his kindness, loyalty and friendships will be sorely missed.
A service in his honor will be held in the Christ Church Memorial Garden, 120 Edenton Street, this Saturday, April 2nd, at 11:00 am. Visitation to follow in the Church Commons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
