Alex was a man of many hobbies but the most profound was swimming. Thanks to his swimming abilities 11 people are alive today through his various saves at the YMCA and by simply being at the beach at the right time. One of those lives he saved was his younger sister after a close encounter with drowning. Alex was a beautiful soul and he will be whole fully missed.
He leaves behind a beautiful spunky 8 year-old daughter, Aria Perkins, and her mother Katie Black; parents, Ray and Mary Perkins; and sister, Meghan Perkins.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on August 21, 2026 at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, 715 Nazareth Street, Raleigh, NC 27606. The family will receive, immediately following the service, in the Parish Hall.
