Tomorrow, you would have turned 37. It feels impossible to believe you’re not here to celebrate with us. We laid you to rest today, but your spirit, your laughter, and the love you gave so freely will never be buried.

You were — and always will be — so deeply loved by me and by your whole family. Our hearts ache with missing you, but we’ll carry you with us in everything we do.

Dear Kay, Irene, Tyler, Kenneth, and the Davis family,

Alex was a such a great friend and always showed up for people when it mattered!  One time when I was living in Arlington Alex insisted on coming to visit me even though he would be driving that old jeep and it was starting to snow.  He took i95 and drove through really bad weather, by the time he arrived to my building there was 2 inches on the ground and we got snowed in.  It was so much fun exploring the national mall and Alexandria with 5 inches of snow on the ground everywhere in DC.  I bet Irene could have killed him for making that trip!  I was so happy to see a familiar face at the time!  Alex had a way of showing up for his friends and loving people without reservation.  He had a sense of humor of a teenager who grew up around the classics in the 90's, I remember his pop culture references to Adam Sandler movies like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison were perfectly fitting and shared at the most inappropriate times (making them so funny).  He would tell me I was the rebel of my family, like him, and I know we bonded on that when we were young.  He was so proud of his friend tribe and making sure everyone knew he had their back.  What a great friend, I will always remember his big laugh and the way he made people feel good.  I am so sorry for your loss!  His friendly, goofy, and loving personality lives on!

A smile that will last forever - we first met Alex when my son was on the same high school baseball team. I recall Alex running in from right field at the end of a home game with the biggest smile I had ever seen on a ball player. Alex was a starting pitcher and I was told he had never won a game as the team was not very good for some time. This was his first win as a pitcher!  He was one happy man. Thanks Alex for such a wonderful lifetime memory.

Dear Kay and the whole Davis family, I’m so sorry for your loss. 

Alex, known by most of us in his friend group primarily as Davis (despite Alex trying desperately for his self proclaimed nickname of Dsauce to stick), was one of a kind. You couldn’t help but notice his positive presence in any room or party you walked into. I met Davis in high school mainly through baseball and having friends in common. He was a star athlete and without a doubt one of the coolest kids in the school - driving his manual Audi on his way to throw a gem on the mound with relative ease. I was fortunate to get closer and closer to Davis over the years as we went on to be roommates for three years in college along with Al and Eric Brommer. Davis was as down to earth as they come, he would have a conversation with anyone and just wanted to laugh and have a good time. In high school, a few of us went up and stayed at my Nanny’s apartment in Queens, NY for a few days during spring break and Davis, for some unknown reason, slept under her coffee table every night we were there and my Nanny got such a kick out of that - she brought it up for years and always got a good laugh while telling the story. Alex  had a lasting impression on so many people he met. Alex had a huge heart and he’ll be sorely missed by all of us. 

I’m so sorry I can’t be there today to celebrate Alex’s life but my thoughts are with his whole family during this unthinkable time. Ferg, Ben and Al are waiting for Davis with open arms to continue watching out for the rest of us until we join them. RIP Davis, I love you brother.

Sue became a part of my extended family in the Raleigh-Durham area when she stayed with Rick and me.  Alex was the same age as Sue's son Aaron, and she gravitated toward him.  Here they are at a family get-together, Christmas eve, 2021 at Kay's house.  We will miss Alex so much! ❤️

I don’t think I ever met Alex in person, but I practically grew up with his dad, and my 1 st cousin Ken, who I saw many times over the years when his family would visit our nearby  grandmother’s house in my hometown. 

Alex must have been a first class citizen,  and a baseball standout as well. All respect to Alex, and of course his dad, mom, and brother. Losing a member of my extended family hurts. I hope everyone’s memories of Alex will burn brightly forever. Long may he run.

Wanted to offer my condolences to Kay, Ken, Ryan, Tyler, and their spouses on this loss. Alex certainly was a character. He spent Christmas with us last year. We said our goodbyes because he had to return home for work. The next day I go into my daughter’s house and there’s Alex sitting on the sofa. Yeah you guessed it. He missed his flight, he was talking to a girl in the restaurant at the airport. He certainly will be missed!!!

Dear Kay and Ken (Ms. Davis and Mr. Davis to me), I am heartbroken for your loss. Alex and I met the summer after our sophomore year in high school and he quickly became a large part of my teen years. We shared such fun times together. Long drives in his Audi, sunroof open, music loud, inside jokes, many holes of golf, baseball games, high school dances, friends, and beach trips. His laugh and big smile echos in my mind. Hilarious, athletic, and caring. He loved his Mama. He loved helping you rearrange or lay stones in your garden or do yard work (even if it was a “chore”) and he loved your “porcupine meatballs”.  I haven’t forgotten the time he wanted me to try your famous recipe. I now make them for my own children. In many ways, Alex and I grew up together. We spent  many days figuring out the big world. Good times and hard times. Alex was with me through the passing of my father. I’m forever thankful for him during that time. At 19 years old he sat with me in hospice hospital rooms and stepped out here and there to check his fantasy team at the nurses station computers. He was a joyful presence through many of my darkest moments and patient when I was less than pleasant to be around. My Dad and Alex shared the same initials. AKD. Alex was wonderful. Thank you for sharing him with the world. My heart and deepest condolences go out to you both, also Ryan, Tyler, and your whole family during this unfathomable time. I am praying that the peace only God can provide, peace that surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and hold you up when this feels too heavy to bear. With love, Kylie (Dickson)

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. When I think of Alex, I picture his smile—he was usually joking about something and always showing his fun-loving, friendly spirit. Wishing you comfort and peace as you hold on to all the beautiful memories of him.

Alex was truly a sweet man. I worked with him at Olive Garden and we always had great conversations. I saw him on Thursday and gave him the biggest hug and we played pool. He was always so generous and a great opponent to play against :) We talked for awhile and he told me I needed to watch IRobot and was laughing at the fact that I had never seen it. Love you Alex. Hope your first week in heaven has been amazing ❤️ I will not be able to make the service but my thoughts are with his family at this time.
