Alex, the son of a commercial fisherman, was born and raised in Morehead City, NC. He spent three years in the U.S Coast Guard during the Korean War. After his service, he transitioned to Chapel Hill, and graduated in 1958. Alex worked in the NC Auditor's Office for approximately 10 years before going to the NC Department of Agriculture as Assistant Commissioner Controller until retiring in 1994. He served ten years on the State Employee Credit Union Board of Directors and sixteen years as a secretary/treasurer of the North Carolina Rural Rehab Corporation.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the Auditorium of Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615
