Al spent 10 years in the United States Navy. In 2000, he graduated from George Washington University online and worked as an Area Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation.
He loved to play cards and enjoyed the social setting when hosting family and friends. Al was also an avid basketball player who played well into his 50s.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Algernon Day and Rosa Bertha Billings; one son, Daniel Finley and a brother, Anthony Finley.
Surviving are his children: Algernon Carlton Finley Jr. (Simone), Reginald Finley (Dilandria), Algersean Finley and Olivia Barber and a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Sera Care and B&C In Home Care Services for their care and compassion shown to Al in his final days.
A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025, in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Interment will be December 29, 2025 in the Sandhills Veterans Cemetery, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
