

She was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, and was the middle child of 13 siblings, growing up surrounded by family and love. Alice was a devoted mother to five amazing children and a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Burton, with whom she started her life in Phoenix, Arizona before moving and settling into Akron, Ohio after his calling home.
She worked as a Financial Recovery Agent for Central Trust Bank in Rochester, New York where she was known for her dedication and no-nonsense demeanor. Alice played no games with anyone. She was only going to tell you something once and the rest was on you. She played NO games.
Outside of work, Alice, was a fun-loving woman who knew how to have a good time and could cut a rug! She had a deep love of music across all genres but especially Motown. She enjoyed dancing and cooking for her loved ones, and treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and family.
Our Matriarch will be remembered for her strong spirit, laughter, and the deep love she had for all her family near and far. Alice leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family unity. She will be greatly missed, and we will cherish her memory always.
Alice is survived by sister, Dorothy (Lamont) Atkinson of Florida, her children Mary Trabelsi, Lorrie (Mike) Brown, Gracie (Ronald) Burton- Hobbs, Michael Burton, and David Burton, her grandchildren Sharita Brown, Tamika Cruz, Tatiana Cruz, Keosha Burton, Shatyce Bristow, Michael Brown, Robert Pinkins, Anoura Burton, Tanisha Pinkins, Latoya Sampson, Jasmine McClain, Marlon McGowan, Marlowe Burton, Michael Burton, Jr, Jeron Burton, and Serenity Burton, 30 great grandchildren,1 great-great grandson and a slew of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly, and her best friend Annie Love whom she adored.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Clara (Zebdee) McDowell, Betty (Winifred-Skylo) McDowell, Mary McCreary, Florine (Eric) Gray, Floyd-Buck Lee, Alonzo (Edith) Lee, Thomas-Tommy (Helen) Lee, Albert Lee, Daniel Lee, George Lee, and William-Bill Lee.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12:00pm, in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, with burial following in Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am.
