

Alice was a native of Wake County, and the daughter of the late Dorcas Hagwood and Henry Guy Workman. She was an active, longtime member of Palmer Memorial Free Will Baptist Church, and served as a Sunday School teacher. She loved her Lord, and considered herself His servant. She was always giving whenever needed, and often contributed to a number of charities.
Alice was devoted to her three children and their families, and loved having them all together under one roof for holiday gatherings. She often found peace sitting on her patio and watching her birdhouse.
Alice is survived by her children, Brenda Penny, and her husband, Darrell, of Wilmington, NC, Billy Wayne Melton, and his wife, Jackie, of Garner, Alicia Kimzey, and her husband, Brad, of Brevard, NC; sister, Patsy Workman Hudnall, and her husband, Dale, of Garner; grandchildren, John Faircloth (Cecelia), Franklin Melton (Stephanie), Darrell Melton (Jessica), Andrew Penny (Janison), Kelly Beatty (Travis), Jessica Kimzey; great grandchildren, Franklin, Addyson, Dillon, Lily, and Brody.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Becky Workman and Ann Crosby, and her brother, Henry Guy Workman, Jr.
A Graveside service was held on Monday, October 10, 2022 in Raleigh Memorial Park. Officiating was Rev. Joe Myrick.
