Amelia “Amy” Phillips Aremia, 92, went to be with the Lord and her heavenly family peacefully on May 24, 2018 in her home at Falls River Village, Raleigh, NC. Born November 17, 1925 in Central City, PA; she was the daughter of the late Albert Phillips and Mary Haddad Phillips.
Amelia left Pennsylvania after graduating school to discover New York City for a business career and where she later met her husband of 46 years, Anthony “Tony” Aremia. She thrived on making a home and raising her children, including a permanent family move to North Carolina. She started back her work life to retire as a property manager. During her lifetime, Amelia enjoyed travel, gardening, book clubs, painting, decorating, and Bible study. She was an author of 3 books and active politically.
She is survived by her children: Mark A. Aremia (Amy Jill Johnson), Matthew G. Aremia (Cyndy Bowker), and John P. Aremia, all in Raleigh. Also surviving are her grandchildren Michael Aremia (Kristin), Michelle Aremia Mitchell (Luke), Nicholas Aremia, Justin Aremia (Christina), Ashley Lenns, Erika Lenns. Also, her 6 great-grandchildren, Halie, Kadance, Aaliyah, Griffin, Brinley, and Asher. Siblings Richard Phillips (Charlene) of Newport TN and Sylvia Audey of Cleveland OH along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Anthony G. Aremia, daughters Mary Carol and Elizabeth Ann Aremia and by her siblings Albert Phillips and Mary Louise Phillips.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2nd from 12:30 -2:30 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue), with Funeral Services to begin at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Committal Services will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
