In Loving Memory of Anastasia “Nadia” Vanevic April 19, 1934 – October 12, 2026 Anastasia “Nadia” Vanevic, 92, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Nadia was born on April 19, 1934, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she grew up, attended school, and began a remarkable life filled with hard work, compassion, and selflessness.
She began her professional career as an accountant with Aerolíneas Argentinas, where she proudly became the first female employee in her department. Her dedication and abilities eventually led to a transfer to New York City, where she continued her career with the airline.
While Nadia took great pride in her work, her greatest accomplishments were not measured by professional success, but by the love and care she so generously gave to others. When her mother suffered a stroke, Nadia made the selfless decision to retire from the airline so she could devote herself to caring for her. This was just one of the many ways she demonstrated that family always came first.
Following her mother’s passing, Nadia returned to her career as an accountant, working at Dr. Flores’ office. There, she not only contributed her professional talents but also formed many cherished friendships. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her. Later in life, when her beloved husband, Jorge, experienced declining mobility and health challenges, Nadia once again embraced the role of caregiver with extraordinary patience, love, and devotion. Caring for the people she loved was never simply a responsibility to Nadia; it was a reflection of who she was.
She gave freely of herself, always placing the comfort and well-being of her family at the center of her life. Beyond her dedication to others, Nadia found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed exploring nature, working on puzzles, watching her favorite game shows, and visiting casinos. She appreciated the little moments that brought laughter, excitement, and joy to everyday life.
In her later years, Nadia found some of her greatest happiness in spending time with the younger generations of her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immense pride and joy. These treasured moments became a beautiful reflection of the family she had spent her life loving and nurturing. Nadia will be remembered not only for her strength, determination, and accomplishments, but most importantly for her generous heart and the countless ways she cared for those around her. Her life was a testament to the power of unconditional love, quiet sacrifice, and the lasting impact of kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Demetrio Olijnyk and Celia Sysak; her beloved husband, Jorge Vanevic; and her brother, Nestor Olijnyk.
Nadia is survived by her loving daughter, Alicia Ross; her son, Dan Vanevic; her five grandchildren, Randy, Peter, Vanessa, Alexander, and Nicholas; and her five great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Jessica, Dylan, Tristen, and Canaan. She also leaves behind extended family in Argentina and Europe, along with many friends and loved ones whose lives were touched by her kindness.
Although Nadia’s presence will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the generations of family she cherished. Her legacy is one of compassion, devotion, and a life beautifully lived in service to those she loved. Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will held on Sunday, November 15th, beginning at 3:00pm in The Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home.
