Arthur L. Giddens

Arthur was a member of Carolina Pines Baptist Church, Hiram Lodge 40, the Eastern Star and a retired State Hospital Employee. He liked to garden, travel, hunt and most of all fish. Arthur loved his church family, especially his “lovely ladies”, how faithful they have been during his years of confinement.

He is survived by his children: Donald R. Hewitt and wife Pat, of Roanoke, VA, Elma Baker, of Raleigh, Jo Ann King, of Raleigh and Donna Thornton, of Hartwell, GA; brother: Daniel Giddens and wife Clara, of FL; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Arthur was preceded in death by both wives: Donnie Inez Taylor Giddens and Dorothy Freeman Giddens; daughter: Lucinda Gail Porter; and brothers: Robert and Melvin Giddens.

Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7-9 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (300 St. Mary’s Street). Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 11 AM at Carolina Pines Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
