Barbara Jean Crowley

She grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island, where she did very well in school. After graduating, she was working in banking when she spotted a young lad across the room and told a colleague, “I’m going to marry that man” and indeed she did! She married Timothy Crowley on August 24,1968. They ended up leaving RI and moving to Red Hook, NY due to Tim’s job.

While in NY, they had 2 daughters and moved to Concord, NC due to an IBM transfer. They raised their family there until 1993 when they had the opportunity to move to Raleigh after both girls were in college. After moving to Raleigh, Barbara furthered her education and obtained a position working for CTL Engineering. The president of that company left to start his own business and she left to work with him at REI Engineers where she finished her over 20 year career as a Director of Operations.

Barbara enjoyed spending time reading, playing poker, and traveling. Some of her fondest memories were the trips to the beach, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, England, going to the Carolina Hurricanes hockey games, and of course spending time with her grandson.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Timothy Joseph Crowley, to whom she was married to for over 44 years.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Kathy Crowley and Lynn (Crowley) Iannucci, wonderful son-in-law David Iannucci, and amazing grandson Dylan.

Family and friends were invited to join us for a Celebration of Life on November 19th at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
