Barry Scott Lingafelt of Raleigh passed away on Sunday, August 10th, after a brief illness at Sunset Beach. Born on November 1st, 1962 in Hickory to Jack and Shirley Lingafelt, Scott was a 1981 graduate of Parkland High School in Winston Salem and a 1987 graduate of North Carolina State University. He spent much of his career working in the insurance industry, with twenty of those years at MetLife.
He is remembered as an incredibly devoted dad and husband, a diehard Wolfpack and Andy Griffith fan, a much-loved preschool Sunday School teacher, and he was honored to be a tenor in his church’s choir.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, August 14th, at First Baptist Church, 99 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC. Family will receive relatives and friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
His life is cherished by his wife, Lynn Graham Lingafelt; sons, Luke and Philip, and daughter, Sarah, all of Raleigh; his mother, Shirley, and brother, Chris, both of Winston Salem and all those who knew him best.
