Dear Lynn, what a shock it was to hear from Shirley about Scott's stroke, then the second stroke, then his passing. I spread the word and asked my church and others to pray for him and your family. I was in Colorado with Shannon the week of his service, but Shirley has told me all about it. Shannon and I both are so saddened, but so glad that we had the privilege of knowing him. I know you and the children will be comforted by memories of his love and character. I hope to come to Raleigh with Shirley one weekend to see you and to attend church with you. Till then just know that I'm thinking of you and praying that God's peace that passes understanding will envelope all of you.

Dear Lynn, Luke, Sarah, and Phillip.

We mourn with you on the heartrending loss of your father and husband, Scott.

We read a very good tribute by David McNeal: "Scott - You will be missed by all of us that knew and loved you. Your star will continue to burn bright through Lynn, your children and the many people that you impacted during your far too brief stay on this earth."

Scott and your entire family have long been exemplars of uplift, which especially makes the death of Scott so devastating.

We pray that the four of you can find some of the uplift which your family has provided to us over the years.

My deepest sympathies to Lynn, Luke, Philip and Sarah. Scott was always cheerful, always ready to lend a hand. As my grandad would have said...he was a class act.

I was so sorry to learn of Scott's loss via Parkland High's facebook page. I grew up on the street with Scott and Chris and their parents Jack and Shirley. Our families also attended Antioch Baptist Church with them. Although I haven't seen them in years, I recall what a loving and faithful Christian family they were, and I pray that you'll find strength and comfort in the assurance that one day we'll be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven.
