Part 2:

"During her employment at Booz-Allen, she moved into a beautiful townhouse and used this as her home for all the time I knew her.   Bee in this home placed her close to me, facilitating access to me, theaters, churches, etc. Both of us loved music, poetry and just about everything that would give us exposure to culture.
  
We had joined this interest and quickly took up plays at American enough.  Bee and I had a special interest in archeology and attended presentations at the major synagogue in D.C.  Not only was the knowledge gained special, but also it led to Bee’s attendance to Jewish knowledge and her reading and teaching in the Jewish history for the group.  This when her religion was Catholic and which she felt strongly.  This activity was carried out initially in DC, but the heavier work after her move to a large development in Maryland.  

While at Booz- Allen I took my first vacation and toured in England, Switzerland, Greece, and Israel.  Bee decided to join me for the Israel last stop.  I picked her up at the airport and began an unbelievable three week trip.  We met many Israelis - many we kept in touch with over months and years.  The interest in archeology, Jewish matters, and life added to an important and enjoyable trip.   

A special event was a poetry reading by Yevtushenko at the Library of Congress.  This required us to walk around the Library to hear the reading and where she was determined to get his signature at any cost. (And she did - I have the signed book to prove it! - Mark)

Bee was a special friend, one that never wavered from another person. She put forth every effort to see that everything was done correctly and to the very best.  I am sure that she made Mark happy and saw to it on every occasion.  Mark indicated that he would see to it that my memories of Bee would be shared with her neighbors and again this is typical of her life.  Thanks to her for sharing her years."

"BEE’S Memory 

On a quiet afternoon in late October 2022, I received notice of Bernadine Weddington’s death from Mark. Her son.  Bee had been a special person in my early working days and I was saddened to hear of this news though I had not been in contact with her over the interim years. To give everyone a picture of our time together I committed to Mark to send him a summary of what I can remember of our years.  Note that I used the work remember – no one will know how little I am able to remember of any years, much less one that encompasses so much – all wonderful.  Mark – only one thing that you missed – at least in your note to me…the German Shepherd was Scottie.

My time with Bee (her nickname) began in Rockville Maryland when I had just completed my Master’s degree in librarianship and landed a job at Fairchild Strator in Hagerstown Maryland.  The company had joined the information bandwagon and I was given authority to hire necessary staff.  After several interviews, I hired Bee.  During our time at Fairchild, Bee met and became friends of citizens in the Hagerstown area as well as individual at the company. She proved to be an excellent choice and she established a name for her self (see picture).  After a successful employment I moved to Booz-Allen and at a later date, Bee followed.

Though Fairchild had been a heavy male organization, Booz-Allen proved to be even more so.  Bee proved to e a special individual in handling such matters and even in top meetings, special assignments, etc., was able to hold her own, even in social events of the company.  She was selected for agency writings in Vietnam and special publications in home base. "

I served on the Board of Cinema Inc with Bee for several years.  She was sharp, funny, fiercely independent, and she never missed a beat!  She also had a warm heart and she LOVED to hear about the exploits of anyone's cats.  Bee had a good, long life,  and it's hard to think of her as gone.  My deepest condolences to her family.

Mark, your Mom always beamed with pride when she talked about you. I worked with her when we produced several award-winning training programs and videos at Burroughs Wellcome.  Bee was a good friend for many years. She knew when to get down to business, and when to laugh. I share your loss.
