Blythe Kailee Shuman, 19, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2021. Born on May 17, 2002 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC; she was the middle of three children of Garry Dean Shuman and Jennifer Gettinger Shuman, of Garner.
Blythe was a loving, adventurous and athletic child and even as a young woman. As a child and teenager she was a cheerleader, a competitive gymnast, and played volleyball and softball. Having two brothers she would hold her own and lived with the belief that anything they could do she could do better. Blythe loved her family and showed that with every opportunity that arose.
Blythe loved flying, river rafting, zip lining, swimming, boating, camping and yes…. even fishing. She loved the mountains, but her heart and soul was at the beach. She loved Surf City, NC where she ran, swam and buried her brothers in the sand as they loved and laughed with one another without a care in the world. Her passion was loving children and animals, especially abused and abandoned ones. She loved her dog, “Ralo”. She cared for him like a child, as Ralo was also a rescue dog.
Blythe graduated from Cleveland High School in Clayton and was attending Wake Technical Community College. Her plans were to transfer to a four year college at the beach. She was a delight to listen to as she spoke of making lots of money, but before she could finish her plan she had drifted into doing something that would help others as well as changing the world into a better place. Her pet peeve was that students did not have access to actual text books. She loved reading and was always picking up a new or used book from somebody or somewhere.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents: Garry and Jenna; brothers: Malin and Rohan; grandparents: Judy and Jerry Shuman; great-grandfather: Mr. Rudy Cribb; aunts, uncles and cousins: Karen and Tony Chadwick, their children Brenden and Ashlyn; Dena and Terry Joyner, their children Trevor, Reece and Easton; and Vanda and Guy Percy, their daughter Elizabeth; uncle: John Gettinger Jr.; as well as other extended family and numerous friends.
Blythe was preceded in death by her grandparents: John and Pennie Gettinger of Surf City, NC.; and great-grandmothers: Katie Shuman Green of Charlotte, NC and Mini Lee Cribb of Charlotte, NC.
You will always live in our hearts and minds. You will never be forgotten if it be God's will. We Love you Blythe Kailee, aka “B” and “Beezy”, “Our wild child, with a gypsy spirit”.
The outpouring of support by family and friends has been greatly appreciated and your continued prayers and love mean so much to us.
