Worked with Burt in Istanbul, Turkey; he was a real gentleman and an asset to our team on the New International Terminal for Ataturk International Airport.  Burt was always there and ready to help the team and never lost his patience. He will be missed. 

I was a field office secretary during construction of the "new" Atlanta Int'l Airport.  Burt was with the Airport Engineers.  I thoroughly enjoyed working with him.  I typed his resume' when he decided to apply for Saudi.  We corresponded often while he was in Saudi.  As time travels along, we lost contact with each other.  I was sad to read his obit today in the Atlanta Journal.  My sympathies to each of the family.  Burt was a great man.

The world has lost a kind, gentle human being and it has certainly made a dent in all our lives. We share in your grief. 
Our fondest memories of Burt are of our close relationship as first cousins growing up in Gettysburg, South Dakota.  We so enjoyed  having him close.  Once , Burt left South Dakota, we kept in contact with him throughout his worldly travels and engineering endeavors.  We so loved it when he was able to come back for hunting season.  During these trips our extended families came to know our dear cousin, Burt. 
 Unfortunately, because of the miles that separated us, we missed the joy of knowing Burt’s family to the extent we would have liked.   Within the last few years and up to recently,  we have been so fortunate to get to know Paul. He has been so wonderful in keeping us informed.  One of our highlights was our trip to Raleigh in 2018 and seeing Burton.  It was heartwarming to find his gentle spirit had not changed.  
May you find comfort in the memories you’ve created as a family and peace in the assurance of God’s promises.

Through my mother, Beverly Lehrman, our family got to know Burt quite well these last few years.  When he moved to Magnolia Glen, he started joining my mother for meals in the dining room.  In the days we were permitted to eat in the dining room, our family  joined them and heard about all of his great adventures.  Soon Burt began to join us for Sunday family meals.   Beverly and Burt were great companions and enjoyed each other's company.

Even after Burt moved out of Magnolia Glen, they spoke daily.  My mother enjoyed meeting Burt  and his new friends for lunch at Morningside, and became very frustrated and worried  when Covid kept them apart.   Burt was a great friend to my mother and she would want you to know of their wonderful relationship.  

I am so sorry for your loss. So loved by all of our children, Stephen, Kevin & Amy. The boys remember their hunting excursions in SD, Amy remembers her weekend with your dad in Turkey.  I have memories of my corresponds with him when we cleaned out Grandpa Steve's house and I found pictures that I sent to him. One was him in his naval uniform, an 8x10,  that he told me he had looked for when his mom passed but couldn't find. I still have the notes of gratitude he sent to me when he received them. What a wonderful person he was. I'm sure a wonderful father also. He and Mick are together again. They were like brothers.
