Byong Tae was born and raised in South Korea. On February 23, 1956, she married Jae Ku, and together they had 4 children: a daughter, Jung-Yol, Ho-Yol, and Do-Yol. On February, 19, 1972, they immigrated to the United States. And it was in Goldsboro, North Carolina that they created JHD Enterprises, Ltd. DBA Lim’s Menswear.
Byong Tae lived a rich and fulfilling life as a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the ‘greatest cook in the whole wide world’ and hosted many holiday gatherings. Above all, Byong Tae loved her family and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of kindness, love, resilience, and selflessness will live on in all the lives she touched. She will be forever in our hearts.
Byong Tae will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Jae Ku; sons: Jung-Yol, Ho-Yol, and Do-Yol; 8 grandchildren: Jessica, Karlyle, Kyu-Ha, Tuliaan, Zander, Michael, Edward, and Andrew; and 8 great-grandchildren: Theodore, Ezequiel, Marielle, Ethan, Anabelle, Charlotte, Quinn, and Colin.
Byong Tae is preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, and daughter.
A funeral service was held on June 5, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.
