I was aghast to google Carole's name today to see what she's been up to and found instead it's days from being the 6th anniversary of her death.  
We met at CSULB in the 70s, both working on our BA in Art History and became friends.  I have many memories of things we did in an Indian Art class - She was with me when we went to a Ravi Shankar concert in Pasadena and saw George Harrison there.  After she had her accident (Arthur Taussig's studio) and returned to convalesce at the family home in Shreveport, I flew out and drove across country with her to return to Long Beach to complete her degree.  
We lost touch for years and then reconnected for a day in the early 1980s.  It was as if we hadn't been apart a day, such was Carole's way of being so present and attuned to others, as we sat and caught up on the paths our lives had taken.  
I've often thought of her over the years and today I thought I'd act on the impulse to reach out and check on her.  It's been over 40 yrs since we knew each other and memories of Carole's graciousness and warmth still are a blessing in my life.  That won't change.

Carole, Linda  Linan and I were in a group of young people at Byrd High School that spent a couple of summers together.  Bucky Mayeaux and I were best friends and Bucky was dating Linda.  I remember Carole,  Linda, Bucky  and I with some other kids playing football at the Linan's house  into the Fall.  I work for her dad for two years at KSLA.

From the few times we spoke it was clear you were a loving woman, who only wanted the best for everyone. I never had a chance to thank you for your kindness and generosity towards me but know that you shall be sorely missed and kindly remembered by all you have left behind.

My mom was the best person in the whole world, I miss her so much every single day. I still can't believe she's gone. I want her back more than anything. She was amazing in every way possible, and I loved her so much. Life will never be the same without her. I don't want people to forget about her. I miss you so much Mom!

Dear Carole,
I am sorry we all didn't have more time with you in this world, I have never forgotten the impact you had on my life while in Asheville. You taught me about art, beauty, grace and elegance and all with a wonderful smile and infectious laugh. Rest well until we see you again,

To Carole's children and her sisters, I am so very sorry for the loss of Carole. We were in the 2nd or 3rd grade together at South Highlands and countinued to be friends thru high school. I appreciate that I was able to visit with her at her mom's visitation and funeral. She was a special and very gracious friend, whom I will treasure forever. Linda, Alexa, Jeannie, Amanda Jeanne and John Winston and family how sorry I was to learn of Carole's death.  I wish I had had more time to express to all of you personally at your Momma's service how many memories of childhood have come to me through the years reminding me of family ~ each of you present with your incredible Linam smiles.    The gift of Carole in my life also was prevalent when we were roommates a while in B.R. La..  And, when she produced an incredible story about Sarah that I continue to view from time to time.  Carole's voice, her tender ways and huge heart all gifts to everyone of us that knew her, and loved her.  I am so very sorry for the loss of Carole ~ your Momma, sister, Aunt, faithful friend and our cousin. To Carole's children and sisters - I am so sorry for the loss of your mother and sister.  I first knew Carole at South Highlands Elementary in Shreveport. I thought I was a fast runner and had high hopes of winning at Field Day but she won first place in the 50-yard dash everytime.  We also played on the same softball team at SH and she was the star. Our parents were good friends, played golf at SCC, and enjoyed many golf trips together so Carole and I always had a connection growing up.  Even though we lost touch after high school, I have always thought of her as one of my first real friends. I will always remember those  years of friendship with fondness. Take care.

I am terribly saddened to learn of Carole's passing. She was a wonderful childhood friend and neighbor for many years, as where all of the Linam girls. Carole had a delightful demeanor and possessed a wonderful laugh. I know her children must have been very proud of her. I will remember her fondly always. Sending love to Linda, Alexa and Jeannie.

It saddens my soul to know that Carole has departed this world. We had many great childhood times together as she was the closest in age to me of all of the Linams. That she was possessed of great taste is no surprise...it is a quality inherent in the Linam lineage. My deepest sympathies to her sisters, family, and friends. Carole was a dear, sweet friend who I initially knew in a professional capacity. We eventually became dear friend with many shared interests for nearly 20 years. I will always remember her kind and generous spirit. She will be greatly missed. My condolences and deepest sympathies to both Winston and Amanda, especially, and to all who knew and loved her.

I remember Carole from Captain Shreve, she was a fun, kind giving person.  Carole must have carried those wonderful gift into her adult life and lived a life worth celebrating.  She left many fond memories.  God be with her and her family.

I enjoyed seeing and talking with Carole every time she came into Shreveport to see her mother, Jeanne Linam.  I miss her mother very much and will miss Carole also.  She was always so kind and loving.  My deepest condolences to all of Carole's family, especially Amanda.  I am praying for you.

Carole will be truly missed by all who knew her especially her friends in her Sunday school class at Hayes Barton United Methodist. Carole's courage and spirit though out her battle with cancer has been an inspiration to everyone. 
I will always miss her smile, calmness and peacefulness. She was totally a beautiful person and southern lady.
May her children and family have some comfort in knowing she is now with her lord forever.

Carole had a gentle soul and a resilient spirit. She always made me feel special. I will miss her but she will live on through her children whom she loved dearly.

Carole will truly be missed. We were in the same Sunday School class at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church and she was always to upbeat and thoughtful. She was a great teacher and always had such insightful comments to make when we were all together. Our class will always remember the wonderful dinners we had with her and the last 2 were ones where she "served" us by providing the food. What a fun-loving and beautiful person. She was always always thinking of her children -- loved them very much and we all knew it. She has been a wonderful example of "warrier" until the end. Prayers and love to all of her family.

I feel so privileged to have known Carole through our Sunday School class at HBUMC.  She was truly an admirable person with her strong faith and positive attitude.  My deepest sympathy goes out to Carole's family.

It was my privilege to know Carole through our Sunday School Class at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church.  She was a strong believer in the Lord and led our class in a number of lessons.  She is with the Lord now and is no longer suffering.

I send my sympathies to her children and her sisters.  I know that God will help them through this difficult time.

Carole was a special person and always had a smile in her greeting. I can attest to that from her days in the Principal Clerk's Office of the General Assembly. I know she will be missed. May she rest in peace.
