Mrs. Carolyn Crowder Barbour of Morehead City, formerly of Raleigh, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Mrs. Barbour was born on May 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Evelyn Sears Crowder and the late Raymond Crowder both of Raleigh. She was the wife of the late DeVan Barbour, Jr., also of Raleigh.
Mrs. Barbour is survived by her daughter, Libba Barbour Shelton and son-in-law, Scott of Morehead City; and sons, DeVan Barbour III of Benson, and Ray Barbour and daughter-in-law, Mona of Raleigh; grandchildren Sarah Shelton Lawrence and husband, Denny, Mollie Shelton Mossor and husband, Joey all of Morehead City, Cameron Grimes Barbour of Benson, DeVan Barbour IV of Clayton, William Blanton Barbour, Charlotte Rives Barbour of Raleigh and great granddaughter, Grayson Elizabeth Lawrence of Morehead City.
A graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh on Thursday, August 4 at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Francis By the Sea Episcopal Church, Bogue Banks on Saturday, August 6, at 11 a.m. A reception will be held following the memorial service in the church Parish Hall.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3 at the home of Ray and Mona Barbour, 802 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh, from 6-8 p.m
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the St. Francis Labyrinth Fund, St. Francis By the Sea Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 7, Salter Path, NC 28575.
