
Charles Report Hankins passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the age of 30 in Houston, TX surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Dr. Charles T. Hankins (Houston, TX) and Dr. Scott and Nancy Gerard (Wake Forest, NC), and the brother of Christian Hankins (Raleigh, NC).
Charles was born in San Antonio, TX and grew up in Rochester, MN. Charles had one of the kindest and most caring hearts. He always put others above himself. His friends said he was a "true friend."
Charles graduated from Century High School in Rochester, MN where he played soccer and participated in plays. He attended Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN where he played soccer. Charles graduated from Baylor University with a BA in Psychology in 2007. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. While at Baylor, he participated in Sing. He enjoyed working with children during his career in Psychology. Charles recently enjoyed working in the arts through architecture and advertising with a spotlight on social media.
Charles was an avid photographer, painter, loved traveling, and enjoyed playing soccer and rugby in city leagues. He loved running with his two rescued Siberian Huskies. He worked closely with the Siberian Husky Rescue Chapters in Dallas and Fort Worth.
The Memorial Service will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at 1:00pm at Bayleaf Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC followed by a private family graveside service at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family requests donations be sent to Samaritan's Purse (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/memorial-giving/, select donate to Charles Robert Hankins) or Save Our Siberians Rescue Fund (http://www.sos-srf.org).
Charles enjoyed all the kind words from friends and family during his final three weeks in the hospital. He died die to complications from cancer and diabetes (which he had since childhood). Charles returned to his loving Savior, Jesus Christ.
