Charles “Mac” Alan McDougal, Sr. passed away peacefully at Springmoor Stewart Health Center on March 22, 2018. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Vincent and Emma Louise McDougal; and brother Robert Bruce McDougal.
Mac was born in Washington, DC on August 28, 1927. After graduating high school, he joined the US Marine Corp and served until 1946. Following his discharge, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and then graduated from the University of Maryland.
Mac’s professional career as a Special Agent with the FBI lasted 26 years and included stops in Chicago, New York City and Elizabeth City, NC. During his time in Chicago, Mac met the love of his life, Jane Gilbert. After retirement from the FBI, he worked for the New Hope Presbytery in Greenville, NC. Upon his second retirement, he and Jane moved to Raleigh to be closer to family.
Mac is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane Gilbert McDougal; sister, Adair (Hunter) Hadley; sons, Chuck (Cheryl), Andy (Debbie) and Mark (Renee); grandchildren, Alan (Jennifer), Erin (Scott) Bartow, Brent, Ryan, Matthew (Elizabeth) and Heather (Drew) Becker; and three great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Family and friends will be received in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
