

Charlie Ruth Cochran was born on May 28th, 1919. She grew up in downtown Atlanta, Georgia during the Roaring Twenties!! She was a champion roller skater in her teens. During WWII, she worked as a secretary for a Colonel in the U.S. Army.
After the war, she married Wendel T. Fosdick. They had one child, Michael T. Fosdick. The family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1954 to the Oberlin area. In 1957, they bought their present home in southwest Raleigh.
Charlie was very involved in the Raleigh Garden Club and her neighborhood Countryside Garden Club. She attended Ephesus Baptist Church in Raleigh/Cary. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She loved native NC Wildflowers..!! She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, friend and could be a formidable adversary when aroused! She was one of a kind in the Greatest Generation..!!! She'll be missed.
Charlie Ruth passed away on September 2nd, 2021 at Meadowview Assisted Living in Smithfield, NC. The family would like to thank the staff for the care given to her during that time.
She is survived by her only child, Michael and two granddaughters, Rebecca and Christina. Private Services were held for family.
