Chellam Venkata Goli woke up as usual on March 4th 2022 to take his bath and then sat down at the breakfast table. He took his last breath sitting up and faced death the same way he always faced anything in life, head on and not lying down. He passed away peacefully and did not suffer. He will be joining his wife and our dear mother who had passed away on December 3rd 2020 and our dear brother Mahender ( Manu) passed away on April 23rd,1994 . He had just celebrated his 97th birthday in January with family and friends. He was born on January 12, 1925 in a small rural village in Telangana, India.
He went through the struggle for independence in India in 1945 and the end of the second world War and despite tumultuous times, managed to become a Mechanical Engineer and spent a lifetime of service in the public sector to help in the post-Independence five year plans to modernize India and make it self sufficient. He spent his life in almost all of the major hydroelectric projects and the (PWD) Public Works Division in India. He is also well known as one of the main engineers who helped build the world's largest masonry dam ( Nagarjuna Sagar Dam) which also happens to be built completely by hand since modern equipment was lacking , making it an engineering feat to behold.
Chellam cherished his family above all. He is survived by 2 of his 3 sons Devainder and Veeraindar and 3 daughters Jothika, Renuka and Rajitha, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. his sister, Carolyn P. Johnson, his nephew, Ramchander Reddy Munigala.
