It is with profound sadness that the family of Cheryl Carey Leone announces her passing after a warrior’s journey battling cancer at the age of 80. She died on January 26, 2024 in her home and under the wonderful care of hospice. She was loved most deeply by her two children, Beth Noble and Tony Leone, her devoted partner of twenty-five years, David Favor, and his children, Wendy Warlick and Scott Favor. Cheryl will forever be in the hearts of her close-knit family and countless friends who were so positively impacted by this woman who shattered glass ceilings, dispensed priceless advice and opened her heart to anyone that needed a loving, safe space.
Cheryl was an American patriot, having served in the United States Marine Corps before finding her career path within the North Carolina justice system. A rising star from legal secretary to paralegal to law firm administrator to business consultant for attorneys, she helped lawyers form entrepreneurial dreams and build empires. Mostly, her joy was in helping the common person find justice when no hope was to be found.
Despite all her amazing accomplishments, the true apple of her eye was her granddaughter, Parker Noble. They spent countless days wrapped up in each other’s love, spending so much quality time together that Parker will never forget her grandmother’s spirit and perseverance. Cheryl was the best role model a child could ever hope for and what happened at Grammie’s house, stayed at Grammie’s house. This allowed for unlimited spoiling, as is a grandma’s right.
There will be a joyful celebration of Cheryl’s life at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00AM followed by a catered reception. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the 501(c)(3) non-profit North Carolina Mock Trial Program which is a powerful educational program that enables North Carolina high school students to learn about the justice system, gain self-confidence and hone their communication and analytical skills that will empower them throughout their lives.
