Chris was a amazing neighbor and best friend with me. We were next door neighbors and I loved seeing him work outside when I worked outside too. We always were joking with each other and I loved joking with him and I loved his jokes a lot. The last day of him I saw him and said hey and we were laughing then that early morning day when I saw police’s, and ems also much more emergency cars I was like what happened to them and when I heard the news I was so sad to hear it and I didn’t want to see his body getting in a car but from that day, I see there house and I’m like man I miss my neighbor so much!! God bless him and his family!  

Been trying to think of something to say for a week now.  I really appreciated Chris.  One of the people I can talk to socially about software development, which was nice.   He randomly helped me pick up a door when I needed help.  I am just thankful for him.  I will miss the opportunity to grow our friendship.  I also especially thank God for him.  I walked out of the celebration service wanting to do and be better, and only God working in and through Chris could have done that.  Jesus works in and through His people!

I never had the pleasure of meeting Chris personally but having worked daily with John, for few years, I know he was a great person and I know how proud John was of him; I know the pain will be very deep.

I worked with Chris at Dell for only a few short months.  After our first conversation I knew he would be a great addition to the team.  He was intelligent, thoughtful and passionate about software and technology in general.  He was a true pleasure to work with and will be greatly missed by the team. I had the pleasure to work with Chris at Xylem around 2 years. When I joined the team, as a beginner into the team, Chris used to come forward and help. He was humble, patient and kind hearted person I have ever met. I remember telling him many times, hey Chris, “I can’t spend half a day to figure out something which could take you half an hour.” I  always used to ping him to check whether he can fix something and it was no surprise that he is the ONE. I feel lucky to have known him. Deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. Chris, you will always be remembered and be in my prayers.

Chris and I were band mates at WGHS. He was the epitome of kindness and someone I’m grateful to have crossed paths with. Praying for his loved ones— may you all find strength and comfort during this difficult time. ❤️

For many years, I worked with Allison at SAS and would hear about Chris as she and I talked about our kids and our family. Then, when our daughters were in the same daycare class, I got to finally meet Chris at a few birthday parties. I still remember the first one where we instantly hit it off. We talked  nearly the entire party about cars, technology, our jobs, our families, etc. He and I were kindred spirits and I only wish that I'd met him sooner. To everyone who knew and loved Chris, I am so sorry for your loss. Our entire family is praying for you.

Our hearts go out to Allison, Bradley, Hannah, their wonderful families, and many friends during this difficult time.  Chris and Allison were our neighbors for many years.  In fact, we still consider them so, even though they live only about a mile away.  We spent many hours in our cul-de-sac during the early days of the pandemic and what a wonderful time that was connecting with our neighbors as we watched the kids race big wheels from driveway to driveway, set off fireworks, and laughed and talked about any topic you could imagine. We have never laughed so hard seeing a bunch of grown men stomping on a bunch of bugs coming out of the manhole after a few good fireworks/smoke bombs.   We held Chris is such high regard because he was a bright, hardworking, a loving husband and devoted parent.   He was a good man, a good friend, and we will miss him dearly.   Our hope is that he knows how much he was loved.

I met Chris through Allison in college at N.C. State. Unfortunately, I lost contact with them shortly after their wedding. All those years, I would still randomly think about them. There was a funny song that Chris and I would sing as a joke, so I’d laugh whenever I heard it. He was such a kind, funny, smart, caring guy, with a great smile. Our world has lost something special. Condolences to his family and friends, thinking about you all during this tragic time.

I had the pleasure to work with Chris at Dell for a few short months.  I spoke with him nearly every day since he started.  He was hard working and joyful person that brought positive energy to the team.  Our team here was truly shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. I remember Chris well from high school, he was two years younger than I, but still wise beyond his years. I hope all the best for his family.

I was saddened to hear the news but am rejoicing that he is in heaven. I appreciated his help on solving car issues. He was a man of strength and endurance as we moved Steve Edwards’ belongs to a 3rd floor attic in the middle of the summer! What a blessing he was to me and many. May our Lord continue to hold his family in His bosom.

I met Chris at marching band practice the week before 9th grade began and quickly became friends with him and his best friend Santy. Chris was the one of the kindest, most considerate, and hard-working people I’ve ever known. He was so bright, gentle, and deeply thoughtful. If you ever needed anything, he was the first person to offer help. I treasure the years of friendly competition Chris, Santy, and I had with everything from academics to which of us could play the biggest clarinet. I’m grateful to have had Chris as one of my good friends in high school, and I was so glad to have him as part of the family when he married my cousin. Chris’s love will continue on through everyone he met because he has no doubt made each of us a better person. Jon and I give our deepest condolences to the D’Engleres and Baileys.

I had the blessing to get to manage Chris for about 4 years at Xylem.   There was nothing he wouldn't take on and learn.   No task he would not be willing to help folks on the team out with.  He was one of those rare people that are extremely smart technically, accomplished great things for the team and had a place in his heart for being a blessing to others.

He was one of the biggest reasons we were successful on our team, during his time here.

He had a HUGE impact on those around him.  This is evidenced by passing along this sad news to folks he worked with at Xylem and easily 100 people have told me that they've been greatly impacted by this news.

On a personal basis, I considered Chris D a good friend.  He and I talked quite a bit over the years about family, work, etc.    He loved his family unconditionally.  I know his children were a HUGE joy in his life.  

We all miss him greatly!

Karen and I were shocked to hear the news about Chris. We can both relate to and understand the pain also having lost a son at a too early age. Such losses call our faith into question and push us to boundaries that question why this was necessary. Time helps to heal but there are always reminders of our children – the good and bad of making sense of loss.

Chris was an outstanding young man, very personable, and kind, and grabbed your attention with his handsome looks and kind demeanor. You could tell he was an exceptionally intelligent and curious person with an aptitude for technology. It is no surprise that he became an engineer and then moved to computer software. Like John, he seemed to excel in fixing computer issues, and it brought a smile to our faces when we read that he was referred to as “Mr. Fix it,” the same title we associate with Dad.

We can only hope you hold on to the best memories about Chris and that those feelings help to heal the loss you are feeling now. It is a hard battle every day since there will be things to remind you of him. We understand this challenging time and hope you find ways to cope and recuperate. We are here if there is anything that we can offer.

I worked with Chris for about 1.5 years. Whenever I need, he was always so willing to help. He was kind, patient and cheerful. I'm grateful I knew him. I will always remember him. He and his family are in my prayers. May Chris Rest In Peace.

In 2018 I was the new guy at work, and Chris was one of the more experienced people who trained me. He was always so willing to help and I was guaranteed that he would listen, not judge, be patient and really try to help. Four years later I was still going to him with questions. In May 2022, just before he moved companies, Chris and I went on a walk. I was feeling unsure about myself and he told me something along the lines of:
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something just because of your background.

It was the perfect things to say. He went on to encourage me and validate my skills. It meant a lot coming from someone like Chris who I knew was honest and meant what he said. Chris then shared that early in his career, a hiring manager told him that he wouldn’t be able to become a software developer since, like me, he didn’t have formal education in the field. I can attest that he clearly didn’t let that stop him, because I was constantly thinking to myself in meetings: “Wow Chris, how do you know that? Is there anything you don’t know? Can I have some of your brain?” He was on another level when it came to understanding software systems as well as knowing so much about physical things from fixing cars to jobs around the house. He was smart but also worked hard. Chris took pride in his work. I remember him on multiple occasions saying something like “If my name is on something, I want to make sure it’s done well.” 

Most importantly, Chris was just an awesome person to be around. He was gentle, thoughtful, easy-going, and got along well with everyone. He was a kind person and easily one of the most patient people I’ve known. He was humble and always gave thanks when he could. He was one of those “good” people that gives you hope, the kind of person you wish there was more of in the world. I consider myself lucky that I knew him over the last 4 years.

It’s been quite a few years, but I do recall when I taught him in Kindergarten he would have been an engineer of some kind. He was curious and inquisitive, a bit serious and gave deliberate thought to everything.

I met Chris when he walked into our Bible study in Sullivan Hall at NC State around 2002.
For the next several years, we spent a lot of time together, bonded as brothers in Christ and through lots of Campus Crusade activities. 
I went overseas after college and sort of lost touch with everyone. Chris and I eventually became facebook friends and kept in touch that way for several years. 
Then, about 5-6 years ago, he reached out with some questions about transitioning his career into software development (my career path). We got together a few times and I was eventually able to get him hired on to work with me at Sensus / Xylem. 
I worked closely with Chris for about 4 years. We sat right next to each other, and our small team had a habit of taking a couple of walks every day. We had LOTS of 15 minute "how are things going?" conversations that built a deep connection over time. 
With all that for context, after 20 years of friendship, I can say with conviction that Chris was a good man. I NEVER heard him speak poorly of his family. He was a hard worker AND very bright. When he joined our team, almost everything about his job was new to him. We threw him in the deep end and he contributed at a very high level. He carved out a critical position for himself on our team and I was happy to have him. 
Chris was very meticulous. His car, cubicle, and inbox were always clean. He did not leave loose ends. 
Chris had integrity. I never had to worry about him doing the right thing.
Chris was generous. Any time I would mention "yeah, I have to fix one of the windows on my van" or "my deck is starting to warp and I guess it's time to replace it" he would eagerly respond with "I'd love to help you with that. I have tools. We'll find a youtube video and figure it out." 
I was always grateful for the offer. Now I wonder if that was mostly his way of trying to spend time together. I wish I had taken him up on those offers.
I'm grateful I knew him and grateful I'll see him again.
