

Claire S. Hotte, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over sixty-three years, Adrien J. Hotte, the love of her life. Claire was born in Fairhaven, MA, on February 12, 1921, daughter of Amadee and Olivine Surprenant. She was predeceased by her parents and six brothers and sisters. After marriage, Adrien joined Corning Glass Works, and he and Claire subsequently made homes for their family in Corning, NY, Bradford, PA, Raleigh, NC, and Wilmington, NC.
Claire was a kind and loving mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She took great joy in all she did, particularly in painting and crafts of all kinds, playing the piano and organ by ear, bridge games with friends, spending time with family, and making everyone around her feel loved and appreciated. She was kind and gentle and sweet, never complaining, and never having a harsh word to say to or about anyone.
Claire willingly gave her time and her heart volunteering in schools and in the community over the years. She was also active in church activities at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild for many years.
Claire is survived by her three daughters, Jacqueline Hotte, Paulette Hotte , and Michele Geraghty (John), all of Raleigh; three granddaughters, Jacqueline Carver (Larry) of Panama City Beach, Florida, Kat Willcox (Travis) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Dennae Jones of Raleigh; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to all the physicians and nurses who have provided care throughout the years, with special thanks to Stacy Allen, P.A. of Raleigh Family Practice, the physicians and staff at Rex Hospital and Mayview Convalescent Center, the staff at SarahCare, and the individuals at Transitions LifeCare, who provided care for Claire in her final days.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, February 9 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr, Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Audobon Society or Transitions LifeCare.
