
He was born in Kannapolis, NC on November 25, 1936, to Carl Wiley Brown and Grace Vanola Stuart.
Upon receiving his BS from North Carolina State University in Civil Engineering in 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Grace Wyke, and began his career with Southern Bell/Bell South Telecommunications completing 36 years of employment.
He served in the North Carolina Air National Guard from 1958 to 1972 as an enlisted airman, 1st lieutenant, and captain.
Dallas was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and served in various leadership roles in the churches (First Baptist, Charlotte; Providence Baptist, Raleigh) where he and Jackie were members. His life motto could be summarized by Galatians 6:10: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Dallas is survived by his wife, Jackie Brown of Raleigh, their two daughters, Beth Conner of Fuquay-Varina, Beverly (Tim) McCoy of Macon, GA, five grandchildren, Clark (Holly) Conner, Cameron Conner, Kendall Conner, Meredith (Bradley) McCoy Patton, and Molly McCoy, two great grandchildren, Edison Conner and Alexander Conner, and a sister, Carol (Bill) Cone of Concord NC.
A memorial service will be held at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 31st. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 12:30 pm.
