Darrell H. Barnett

Born in West Virginia, to the late Howard Taft Barnett and Lahoma Burns Barnett on January 29, 1939. Darrell enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately out of High School, and later worked in the telecommunications industry as a field engineer for over 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Lahoma Barnett, his sister Helen Joan Taylor, and two nephews, Earnest Bea “Rastus” Taylor and Richard Taylor.

His is survived by his wife of 47 years JoeAnn Barnett, his two sons Kevin Howard (and Claire) Barnett of Arden, North Carolina, and Thomas Edward Barnett of Chapin, South Carolina. Darrell was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Hannah (14 yrs. old), Matthew (12 yrs. Old), Ryan (11 yrs. Old), Lilyana (10 yrs. Old), and Cooper Barnett (7 yrs. Old) and their respective accomplishments.

He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Lee Taylor of Layland, West Virginia, and brothers, Roger (and Diane) Barnett of Bluefield, W.Va., Charles Barnett of Beckley, W.Va., David Barnett of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Rick (and Karen) Barnett of Richmond, Va.

A time of visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Saturday December 6, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary’s St. Raleigh, where a funeral will be held at 2:00 pm.
