Dennis Patrick Moore, 66, passed away on the morning of Wednesday July 1st in Raleigh NC with his 3 sons and daughter in law by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. To the very end he never lost his sense of humor and positive attitude. Born October 15, 1959 in Utica, NY to parents Robert and Roberta (Zeuren) Moore. Both parents predeceased him, Bob in 1999 and Roberta in 2023. Dennis grew up in North Utica and was always fond of his time there, attending local elementary schools and graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1977. He loved his high school years when he met many many life long great friends. He went on to obtain his Associate Degree from Daytona Beach Community College and his Bachelor of Science Degree from Utica College of Syracuse University.
Dennis had many varied interests in life, golf (admittedly not very good), at one time his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting and fishing, and a lifelong Yankee fan, having first visited Yankee Stadium in 1968 when he was 8 years old. But nothing provided more joy than his camp and boat on Piseco Lake which he enjoyed with his family for over 50 years. “The best years of my life.”
The very best of all in his life of course and that which made his journey complete, his 3 boys, Patrick, Matthew, and Luke. The many years coaching them in little league and rooting for them in all their sporting endeavors was truly precious time and provided seemingly endless enjoyment. Words could never describe how proud he was of his boys. When he was first diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer all 3 boys showed up at his doorstep before he could even comprehend the news. “It was amazing. I was overwhelmed with what they did for me. Their support gave me hope.”
Like his father before him, Dennis was a long time dedicated State Farm Insurance Agent for nearly 39 years and he wished to extend a very sincere “Thank You” to all his loyal customers.
In addition to his parents Bob and Roberta he was predeceased by both paternal and maternal grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Moore and Robert and Agnes Zeuren. His Aunt Shirley and Uncle Jack Steeper, Uncle Dick Moore and Cousin Jim Moore.
He leaves behind to carry on the legacy, the loves of his life, son Patrick (Emily) Hamilton NY, son Matthew (Khrystyna) Raleigh NC, and son Luke (Megan) Conway SC. Brother Mike (Sharon) New Hartford NY, Brother Bob (Holly) Raleigh NC, two cherished granddaughters Charlie Beth and Eliza Kate. Nieces Madison and Grace, his Aunt Pat Moore and many beloved cousins who meant so much to him throughout his life. Also a very special friend and her family in Raleigh NC Lisa Biddle. So many best life long friends, Wuest, Bucky, Spotty, Scratch, Boogs, Zak, Otis, and BK. The basketball crew Hill, Hajec, Chico, Durr, and Plonish. His former neighbors and great friends, Joe (his fishing buddy), Johnny and Jeff. His State Farm buddies, Huff, Scaglione, and Clarke. And to all of you, so many of you who called and or texted, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. It meant so much to him. “Love all you and I’m grateful for your support, all the laughs, your friendship. It was a good run.”
There will be no calling hours.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday July 18th, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Historic Old St John’s Church 240 Bleecker St. Utica, NY. The family will receive guests following the mall mass. Interment will be in Mt Olive Cemetery (Whitesboro) near his parents.
