Derelys “Sandy” Hamilton

Derelys “Sandy” Hamilton, 59, of Raleigh died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at her home. Sandy was born in Raleigh on June 11, 1953 to the late Gordon Hamilton and Ann Southern Messer, who survives her. She was a life-long resident of Wake County, and a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Maggie Hamilton and Johnnie Mae Southern, and her best friend and companion for many years, her Shar Pei, Sadie. She is survived by her mother, Ann Southern Messer of Raleigh; her two children, daughter, Tina Batton Stull of Franklin County; son, Trey Batton of Raleigh; her brother, Ronnie Hamilton of Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren, Nicole and Taylor; and nephew, Ronnie Hamilton, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA. The family will greet friends and gather to honor Sandy’s life on Saturday, May 4th from 11am until 1pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh.
