Donald Harry Luther

Donald Harry Luther, a man with a strong love for the Lord and a warm sense of humor, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on March 5, 1935, in Tonawanda, NY, Don raised his family in Severna Park, MD. Later, he and his beloved wife, Jean, moved to Topsail Island, NC, where they owned and operated the Topsail Island Trading Company. It was there that Don earned the affectionate title of "Fudgemeister" for his delicious confections. He spent his last years close to his family in Raleigh.

A man of unwavering faith, Don loved Christ deeply and faced the prospect of death without fear, confident in his heavenly destination. He also served with pride in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Don is now reunited with his beloved wife, Jean Ellen Luther. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his five children: John (and his wife Julie, preceded by his first spouse Jeanne), Jim (Libby), Donald (Stephanie), Linda (Stroman), and Colleen. His fourteen grandchildren – Ben, Mara, Sally, Ian, Diana, Vincent, Tedford, Michaela, Madeline, Anna, Lucy, Camryn, Daniel, and Ryan - will continue to share his wonderful sense of humor.

He’ll be remembered for his devotion to the Lord, his family, his love for a good card game, his appreciation for classic cars, and his consistent enjoyment of ice cream. While his wit and warmth will be greatly missed, we find comfort in knowing he's at peace.
