

Dorothy B. Poister died at home on May 25. She was born in Schenectady, NY on March 11, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Bertha Broeland. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Ruth B. Consaul.
Mrs. Poister is a graduate of Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and received a Master’s degree in Education from Syracuse University.
Mrs. Poister was married to the late Arthur Poister from December 1941 until his death in February 1980. They moved to Raleigh after his retirement from Syracuse University when he accepted an appointment as Artist in Residence at Meredith College.
Mrs. Poister is survived by her son Theodore Poister and wife Molly of Alpharetta GA and by her daughter Wendy Sweeney and husband David of Raleigh. She is also survived by 5 loving grandchildren: Chantal Poister Tusher, Jonathan Poister, Robert Poister, Mark Sweeney, and Robin Sweeney Childs.
In her last years her greatest joys were her piano and her great grandchildren: Peri and Calvin Sweeney, Susannah and Caroline Tusher.
The family wishes to thank Sunrise of Raleigh and Hospice of Wake County.
Interment will be in East Galway, NY at a later date.
