Dr. Charles Allan Eure

Dr. Allan Eure died peacefully at home with his family on September 8, 2026. He was born in Gates County, NC on October 6,1940 to Charles R. Eure and Ernestine Parker Eure. Throughout his life he remained loyal to his Gates County roots.

Allan earned a BS in Chemistry in 1963 as a Morehead Scholar at UNC, earned his medical degree at UNC’s Medical School in 1967, and continued his medical training at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He also served as chief medical resident at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. His time in the Navy was as chief medical officer at the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia.

Allan was an avid gardener and plant collector. He loved working in his home garden and the garden at Raleigh Medical Group. He also enjoyed talking about plants with other members of the Men’s Garden Club and the Piedmont Rock Garden Society.

Allan met his wife, Susan Duncan, during his time at UNC Medical School. They married in 1968. After completing his medical training and military obligation, the couple moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he formed the Raleigh Medical Group with Dr. Robert Bilbro and Dr. Billy Dunlap in 1973.

Allan is survived by his wife Susan, his daughter Hadley (Curtis Kolbrenner), his son Charles and his grandchildren, Laney and Miles Eure.

A memorial service will be held at Highland Methodist Church, 1901 Ridge Road, on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Visitation with family and a reception will follow the service in the conference room at the church.
