Edith Wells Liles

Edith was a devoted wife, and mother to her family and dedicated to her faith. She was a lifelong member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served on many committees. She was honored for her selfless work and ministry. Edith was one of the first employees of WNAO-TV, the Triangle’s first television station and the state’s first-ever UHF station, where she worked as a switchboard operator before moving on to NC State University in the School of Textiles where she retired from in 1977.

Edith loved animals and gardening. She especially enjoyed irises and her rose bushes. Most of all Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband Seward Liles in 1973 and her sister Alma Wells Kirk in 1999.

Edith is survived by her two daughters: Susan Edith Liles and Linda Liles Blalock both of Raleigh, her niece Nancy Kirk Lynn and husband William, nephew Melvin Taft Kirk and wife Sue, and niece Donna Alessi and husband Jim, as well as many grand nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation with the family will be held 10 am Thursday May 14, 2015 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 E Whitaker Mill Rd. where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow at Montlawn Cemetery, Raleigh.

In honoring Edith’s wishes “flowers may be given to the Glory of God” and any memorial donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
