Edward (Teddy) Turner Clancy

Teddy was the youngest son of David Timothy Clancy and the late Deborah Parry Clancy of Raleigh. He was born in Raleigh and attended White Memorial preschool, Wiley Elementary School and Ravenscroft School. He graduated from The College of Charleston in 2007 with a BS in Business Administration. While at Ravenscroft, Teddy was a North Carolina Prep School championship wrestler for two years, earning All-American honors his Junior year.

Teddy worked at Clancy and Theys Construction Company of Raleigh and Newport News VA after graduating from college, rising from estimator to Director of IT. In 2008, he married Michelle Elizabeth Sarnie, also of Raleigh. They have two children: Serena Elizabeth Clancy, aged 9, and David Arthur Clancy, aged 4. Both are much adored by their grandparents.

He was a person of irrepressible good humor and kindness. He was an avid camper, hiker, enjoying target shooting and anything connected with the mountains. Teddy loved cooking, and he was a good cook. Two of his favorites were lasagna soup and Hungarian goulash. He was also devoted to Camp Kanata in Wake Forest, beginning as a junior camper at age five, and attending every summer thereafter through college, eventually becoming their Waterfront Director and later an Advisory Board Member. He met his wife Michelle there.

His passing will leave a huge void in the hearts of his family, relatives and all knew him and called him friend.

Teddy is survived by his children, David and Serena, his wife Michelle, his sister Marion Yates-Schiff of Huntington Beach CA, his brother Thomas Parry Clancy, his father David Timothy Clancy, and his stepmother McCarroll Sibley Clancy, all of Raleigh, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private family ceremony was held November 5.
