Edward Andrew Gilliam, 51, of Durham, died on January 23, 2020. Edward was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved being outdoors. He loved cooking and would be considered a “foodie” for his love of great cuisine. He worked as a firefighter and EMT for many years in the Triangle area. His family and friends remember him as a prankster who loved to joke around and who had a nickname for everyone.
Edward is survived by his wife, Amy Maslyn Gilliam and their two children, Bryant Gilliam and Hannah Gilliam; three children from a previous marriage, Kim Gilliam, Edward Andrew Gilliam, Jr. and his wife, JoHannah Gilliam and Katie Gilliam; granddaughter, Marlowe Soleil Gilliam; brother, Robert Gilliam and his wife, Paula Gilliam; nephew, William Gilliam; and a host of other family members.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 1:00pm at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, followed by a reception held at Mitchell Funeral Home.
