Early in her career she taught math in public school in North and South Carolina. However, she spent most of her career at various companies in customer service, where she was beloved by the people she assisted.
She was an extremely crafty woman. She made everything from dollhouse miniatures with her mother and daughter to paper and beaded Christmas ornaments to crochet and yarn projects to her true love of crafting; fabric crafts, where Eleanor made everything from quilt tops to koozies to her last passion, fabric Christmas ornaments. Besides crafting, Eleanor loved teaching and spending her free time reading, playing dress up/cosplaying at various Harry Potter and Science Fiction conventions. She also loved traveling and had visited all contiguous United States, Canada, and Mexico.
She leaves behind her husband of 41 years, Kent; her two children Wendy and James; her father Halbert Carmichael; her brother James Carmichael; and her best friends Beth Hodgson and Jane Andrews.
