Elva Deane Barrow Dixon

Deane Barrow Dixon died unexpectedly Friday, April 23, 2010 at her apartment. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27 at Macedonia United Methodist Church, 2700 Jones Franklin Road, Cary NC. Visitation will be held at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC on Monday, April 26 from 5:00 – 7:00.

She was born June 6, 1922 to the late Leonard C. Barrow and Daisy Doyle Barrow.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 59 years, Lyman B. Dixon, Sr. She is survived by her son, Lyman B. Dixon, Jr. and his wife, Sally and their two children Julie Anne and Jacob Scott Dixon; and her sisters Mary Barrow Burgwyn of Jackson, NC and Anne Barrow Maness of Burlington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may consider a contribution to the Lyman B. Dixon, Sr. 4-H Scholarship Fund, NC 4-H Development Fund, NC State Box 7645, Raleigh, NC 27695.

The years have been challenging for her since the passing of her husband. They were truly devoted to one another and she did not let his death lessen in anyway her great love for him. She knew the love they shared was a rare and precious gift and spoke of it often. And now, they are apart no more! They both knew Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives and are now celebrating a long anticipated heavenly reunion. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We love you, Nanamommie.
