Eric Scott Garcia, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on June 24, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio, Eric grew up in Poland, Ohio—mischievously making memories with his three amigos: Stephen, Billy, and Jeff—while summer days were spent in Panama City, Florida.
A gifted athlete in his youth, Eric earned numerous trophies as an AMA Motocross Champion during his teenage years. At 19, he relocated to Florida to attend Florida State University, where he joined Sigma Nu Fraternity and eventually made Naples, FL, his home.
Early in his career, Eric became the youngest proprietor of an Outback Steakhouse, managing the most profitable location in the U.S. during the 1990s. Following his passion for healthcare, he transitioned into nursing and became a registered nurse in the operating room—a role in which he found profound purpose.
Eric’s journey led him to Raleigh, NC, where he continued his nursing leadership in the OR at WakeMed Cary and UNC Rex. Outside the hospital, Eric co-owned Aloha Plus, offering assistance to others during difficult times.
An avid outdoorsman, Eric loved fishing, hunting, and shooting, and found peace in nature—especially at his favorite beach resort in Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Onesti. He is survived by his loving wife, Lonnie Garcia; his stepchildren, Joey and Ellie Moran, of whom he was immensely proud; his sister, Missy Zoladz, and her family; and his father, Dr. Armando Garcia.
Please join us to honor Eric on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh NC.
Eric’s drive, kindness, and gently adventurous spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire those who cherish his memory.
