Dear Mr. Hamby, Barbara and Michael,

I remember Saturdays at your house on Golf Course Drive...first the whole house clean up and then playing "Barbie" with Mrs. Hamby. She really enjoyed having Barbara and I do her hair and paint her fingernails. It didn't matter how it turned out, she wore it for at least that day. What I remember most about Estelle was that huge, beautiful smile. She really seemed glad to see me.

I am sorry for your loss and will always remember Estelle with much fondness.

Dear Estelle, I will miss you much. Who will be on the other end of the phone Sunday nights when I call to chat with you. I do not have your new phone number. You were my words of wisdom and I am a real graduate of "The Estelle Hamby School of Hard Knocks".
You and Dame were my Ocean Isle family and we had many "bean dinners" with so much laughter and "another splash" .....then Dame would have his usual bowl of ice cream and work his crossword puzzle for the evening. I would walk across the yard to Mom's beach house for the night. I will cherish those times forever and thank you two for the wonderful memories . I will have a hard time without you and will miss our chats.......I really thought that you would live forever. I hope that there is a place in heaven for me with you, Dame and Mom and Daddy......if I am that lucky. See you soon. Love, Carolyn Lesley Wesley Chapel, FL

Oh Estelle,
I will miss you so much....I can not believe that you will not be on the other end of the phone for our Sunday evening calls. You and Dame were such a wonderful family for me when I lived in Ocean Isle.... and how about our " bean dinners".... we had just another " splash" before dinner and Dame had to have his bowl of ice cream and do his crossword puzzle at the end of the night. You helped me so much with the thoughts of life and how am I going to live without your weekly words of wisdom. I am really a graduate of the "Estelle Hamby School of Hard Knocks". I am gratefull that you have been in my life since I was two years old. I remember so much about my parent's life with you and Dame and will always cherish the memories. I love you so much, Carolyn Lesley Wesley Chapel, FL
PS Save me a place in heaven with my family and you and Dame if I am lucky to arrive.

Dear Hamby Family,
It was always a treat to see Mrs. Hamby. What a wonderful sense of humor she had! She always seemed so full of fun. And when I'd see her and you, Mr. Hamby, hand in hand, walking along the hallway in Springmoor, it melted my heart. It was obvious that your love for each other had grown sweeter over the years. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart cries with yours.

I met Estelle when Dame invited me to join the College of Textiles as a Visiting Scientist in 1963 and had many social engagements at the family levels. Estelle was one of the most friendly, easy going, social and fun loving woman! She was a great partner as wife to Dame that no body could escape noticing! I have fond memories of Estelle which will continue to be cherished always! To Dame, my deepest felt condolences to you and the family on this personal loss! Bhupender Gupta, College of Textiles
